DIY home projects can be a super affordable way to give your home the boost it deserves. From growing your own veggies to repurposing old furnishings, there are countless exciting ways to enhance your space with DIY projects.

Grow your own food

Having fresh fruits, veggies and herbs right at home can save money on grocery bills. You can keep a small garden outdoors, but plenty of herbs can be grown indoors if you don’t have the yard space. Keeping a garden lets you grow your own food and also allows you to directly interact with nature, which is proven to have a positive impact on your physical and mental health.

Some easy and beginner fruits and veggies to grow include:

  • Green beans.
  • Lettuce.
  • Kale.
  • Strawberries.
  • Tomatoes.

It's best to do research on the plants ahead of time to have proper care instructions. Once your plants are grown and beautiful, you get delicious food and the satisfaction of saving money on groceries.

Reupholster secondhand furniture

Many older furniture pieces have great foundations. However, the fabric on them may be worse for wear. Give older secondhand furniture new life by reupholstering it with new fabric. Not only can you give new life to an unused piece, you can customize it to fit your personal design style.

Hang a simple floating shelf

Making a floating shelf is a great way to add stylish organization to your home. This DIY project can be done with plywood and basic tools. You can spray paint the plywood a shade of your choosing to match the aesthetic of the space, and then set them up accordingly. Items such as a home office photo or figurine can sit nicely on this display space.

Ready to start your next project? Whether you’re refreshing your dining room furniture or adding a personalized wall photo, these simple DIY home projects can be a fun and budget friendly way to enhance your home.
